Both characters have problems. They do not turn away from them, but acknowledge them and deal with them accordingly. They make no excuses. They are who they are. And, it is that honesty that allows them to see each other clearly AND to begin to hope that a relationship is possible.

I like the slow build up to a relationship between the ex-con and the prostitute. It's heartwarming and is so different than a lot of other paranormal books where you sniff/see/hear someone and declare MINE. Here, both are so damaged that even if the traditional sniff/see/hear is there, they don't trust it and thus take their time.

There are some really good twists and villainy in the book. All handled quite well.

Enjoyable.

Terrific, fun read. I love this series.
Give it a try but start from the beginning. You will enjoy it
I didn't think i could do any better than a plain old paranormal book, but that was before i found paranormal gay romances. They can sure rev up your gears. And Stormy Glenn's Wolves and Vampires are really hot. The only thing is i have to wait somewhat before buying each one as they're rather costly.
I found this to be the most 'human' of the series so far which by the way, is one of my favorites. The story of an ex-con and prostitute doesn't go the way you would presume from the outset and the characters have a lot of depth which keeps you eager to follow their path. This is a great read taking you on a journey on the aftermath of choices.
Douglas made some serious mistakes believing and honoring his parents. Those mistakes lead Douglas to jail. Jilly did what he had to do in order to survive. When Douglas and Jilly fall in love, Douglas realize that there is nothing he wouldn't do to keep Jilly safe. In order to keep his mate safe Douglas' actions lead to changing the paranormal world.
This story is a great addition to the True Blood Mate series. I loved Douglas and Jilly, was engaged in their story and laughed at certain points. I felt Douglas had learned his lesson from his past actions and this story showed how much he has chnaged. The book ties in nicely with the previous 4 stories and I have re-read quite a bit of it after completion. Furthermore, it was good to see Asher, Darren, Joel and Caleb again. This is a good, solid story, a great read and worth the price.
